Journey to the planet Naboo and beyond in this space-based shooter for Microsoft’s Xbox. Taking place in the vast universe of the STAR WARS series of motion pictures, novels, action figures, lunch boxes, and more, STARFIGHTER: Special Edition lets you fly most of the ships from the PHANTOM MENACE period into combat against other vehicles from the same stretch of the series. The Xbox version of the game boasts more ships to unlock than the installments for other platforms, and there are more multiplayer modes than you can shake a stick at. CTF is a basic Capture the Flag challenge; Tag pits one player against the rest of the online pack; Steal the Bacon is a welcome variation on the childhood game of the same name; Hunter or Hunted is a riff on Hide and Go Seek; and Dogfight is a basic head-to-head deathmatch between two players. All this isn’t to say that
the game doesn’t have incredible AI or awesome single-player missions, but nothing beats taking this one online and beating up on a few friends.
